Responsibilities
|
| Technical competence: |
|
|
Provide appropriate scientific and technical advice to the Holcim Foundation, including: |
| |
|
|
|
act as secretary and adviser to the TCC |
| |
|
|
|
technical support of the triennial Holcim Awards competition (participation in juries, editing jury reports, executing project verification, etc.) |
| |
|
|
|
co-edit and monitor technical/scientific content of all publications (Awards, Forum, sustainable construction examples, etc.) |
| |
|
|
|
enhance the interface between the Foundation and ETH Zurich (Chair for Sustainable Construction) and also with Holcim Group Support Ltd (commercial and marketing, innovation and product development, green rating systems, etc.) |
| |
|
|
|
liaise and enhance relationship with Partner and Associated Universities of the Holcim Foundation |
| |
|
|
|
identify opportunities to build awareness of and engagement with the Holcim Foundation among architecture, urban planning or civil engineering practitioners and post-graduate students |

Develop events on behalf of the Holcim Foundation that support the exchange of information at an academic/professional level on promoting a sustainable built environment by undertaking technical/conceptual development, securing speakers and papers for the triennial Holcim Forum |

Apply technical knowledge of architecture, urban design and engineering to: |

|
|
|
evaluate applications for research grants and for seed funding of real construction projects |
| |
|
|
|
follow-up and document former Holcim Awards prize winning projects |

|
maintain web-based index of new and rediscovered construction methods and materials |
| |
|
|
|
develop online events calendar for sustainable construction by defining scope and ensuring professional credibility |

Work effectively in an interdisciplinary team including the office of the Holcim Foundation and its Boards, TCC, Partner and Associated Universities and Holcim Group companies with a strong capacity to: |

represent the Holcim Foundation and its sponsor to develop and promote the initiatives of the Foundation |
| |
|
|
|
collaborate with experts in related fields externally and within the Holcim Group to leverage the activities of the Holcim Foundation also for the business of its sponsor company |

Lead the process of building the momentum of technical competence of the Holcim Foundation over a series of triennial Holcim Awards competition cycles |

Qualification requirements
|
| Academic degree: |
|
|
Master of architecture, urban planning or civil engineering, or similar |
| | | | |
| Professional experience: |
|
|
In-depth and current knowledge of sustainable development and construction (theory and practice) including: |
| |
|
|
|
at least three years’ experience in an academic environment |
| |
|
|
|
a capacity to explain technical issues also to non-technical audiences |
| |
|
|
|
practical experience in moderating and working within interdisciplinary teams |

| Industry-specific experience: |
|
|
Planning and design or execution of real construction projects (buildings and/or infrastructure) including management of projects and at least two years’ experience in the construction sector. |
