Kai-Uwe Bergmann is Partner, Business Development of BIG, Bjarke Ingels Group based in Copenhagen.
Through a series of commissions won in design and architectural competitions BIG quickly attained international recognition. The architectural practice’s work combines astute analysis, lighthearted experimentation, social responsibility and humor.
He also is Head of Communications at BIG, and was Project Manager on Central Asia’s first Carbon Neutral Master Plan at Zira Island in Baku, Azerbaijan.
He was previously a Project Architect with C F Møller Architects in Copenhagen where he was a member of three award-winning competition, and filled the same role at the Austrian office of Baumschlager & Eberle.
Kai-Uwe Bergmann obtained a BA of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia, and a Master of Architecture (hons) from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).
He has spent the last eleven years studying glass art and creating his own cast glass pieces.
Kai-Uwe Bergmann represented Bjarke Ingels, Founding Partner of BIG, Bjarke Ingels Group as a member of the Holcim Awards jury for region Europe in 2011.
