Leo Mittelholzer is CEO of Holcim (Deutschland) AG, the Holcim Group company in northern Germany.

He holds a degree in economics (lic. oec.) and business administration from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.

Leo Mittelholzer joined the Holcim Group in 1995, heading up Swiss Gipsunion AG. He then assumed responsibility for all Holcim activities in the German-speaking part of Switzerland in 1998, and became CEO of Holcim Switzerland in 1999. In 2004 he was appointed CEO of Siam City Cement Company (SCCC), the Holcim Group company in Thailand and host of the global Holcim Awards ceremony held in Bangkok in 2006. He was appointed CEO of Holcim (Deutschland) AG in 2007.

Leo Mittelholzer is a member of the Advisory Board of Stiftung Stein-Erden-Bergbau und Umwelt based in Dresden, Germany. The foundation promotes scientific research and evaluates outstanding landscape conservation achievements in the field of industrial minerals mining and environmental protection.

He was a member of the Holcim Awards jury for region Europe in 2011.

Holcim (Deutschland) AG in partnership with HafenCity University (HCU) in Hamburg offers the Holcim Studienpreis für Nachhaltigkeit (Holcim Students’ Award for Sustainability). The prize is presented to the most innovative HCU final-year thesis on the theme of sustainability that addresses ecological and also economic, social, cultural or aesthetic dimensions.
