Publication announcement – Reduce CO2 from buildings with technology to zero emissions
Research article developed from Holcim Forum workshop on “Reduce CO2 from buildings with technology to zero emissions” published in “Sustainable Cities and Society”

A research paper that extends the discussion of the workshop “Reduce CO2 from buildings with technology to zero emissions” from the 3rd International Holcim Forum has been published. The three-day conference was conducted at the Universidad Iberoamericana in April 2010 in Mexico City, where some 270 participants from 39 countries examined new approaches to “Re-inventing Construction”.

Machen! – Die Deutschen Gewinner der Holcim Awards 2011/2012 is a new publication of the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction which brings to life the six Holcim Awards 2011/12 prize-winning projects with were submitted by authors from Germany and that are located on three continents. Written by Jeanette Kunsman and edited by Ilka and Andreas Ruby, the evocative text and informative illustrations document a broad variety of responses to the global need for sustainable construction and highlight in particular their contributions to enhance the quality of life. Available in German only.

Integrated solutions in Burkina Faso, Brazil and Germany win top awards in sustainable construction
Pinnacle of third USD 2 million Global Holcim Awards competition

A school project in Gando, Burkina Faso, a multifunctional community center in São Paulo, Brazil, and an urban renewal plan in Berlin, Germany are the winners of the Global Holcim Awards for 2012. These leading sustainable construction projects were selected from 15 finalist submissions by a jury of independent experts led by Enrique Norten. The finalists were the regional Holcim Awards 2011 winning projects that had been selected from more than 6,000 entries in 146 countries.

Holcim Awards winner is now Pritzker Prize Laureate

Internationally-acclaimed architect Wang Shu, a former Holcim Awards prize-winner, has been selected as the Pritzker Prize Laureate for 2012. The Pritzker Prize is recognized as one of the highest honors in the world of architecture. This year’s prize hand-over will take place in Beijing on May 25.

53 projects set to compete in global phase of Holcim Awards

Global prizes for sustainable construction projects shining a light on innovative solutions worldwide

Leading sustainable construction projects from around the world are set to compete in the global phase of the Holcim Awards in 2012. The projects that received Holcim Awards Gold, Silver, or Bronze in each of the five regions of the world are automatically qualified for the Global Holcim Awards 2012. The 15 Global Holcim Awards finalists include projects from Belgium, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Canada, Chile, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Pakistan, Palestine, Thailand, and the USA, and involve additional project teams from Austria, France, Spain and the UK.
