Zurich, Switzerland – April 7, 2005 – Evaluation of entries in the USD 2 million Holcim Awards competition for sustainable construction projects started following the close of entries.
After a pre-assessment by teams of the partner universities of the Holcim Foundation in each of the five geographical regions in which the competition is being conducted, juries will evaluate and rank the respective entries.
The five juries are led by the respective partner universities and consist of independent, regionally-renowned representatives from science, business and society. Award winners will be announced in September/October 2005.
Up to nine prizes will be awarded at ceremonies in each of five geographic regions: North America, Europe, Latin America, Africa Middle East, and Asia Pacific. Award recipients of first, second or third prize in each region will also qualify for the global Awards selection process to be held in 2006. The Holcim Awards is a competition of the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction based in Switzerland.
The Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction was established in Switzerland in 2003. The aim of the Foundation is to promote sustainable construction worldwide through the Holcim Awards competition, publications and forums.
