Eawag Forum Chriesbach – an example for the future
Zurich/Switzerland, 21 June 2007 – Forum Chriesbach, the new
research center of the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology
(Eawag) proves that green buildings can be high-tech, cost effective, highly
functional and beautiful. The building has won four Swiss awards for innovation,
energy efficiency, daylighting and solar design. A new book, published by the
Holcim Foundation, explains the concept and details of this building which aims
to set new standards for sustainable construction.

Call for Entries - Holcim Awards competition for sustainable construction projects
Zurich/Switzerland, June 1, 2007 – The second Holcim Awards competition to promote sustainable construction worldwide is now open. Entries in the competition can be submitted until February 29, 2008 at www.holcimawards.org. The prize money for the five regional competitions and the global awards totals USD two million. The Awards are an initiative of the Swiss-based Holcim Foundation to encourage and inspire a built environment that goes beyond convention to address the challenges of sustainability.

Support for research, learning and innovation in sustainable construction
Zurich/Switzerland, May 15, 2007. The Holcim Foundation recognizes the critical role of the next generation in promoting innovative approaches to sustainable construction in diverse ways. The Foundation handed over grants for PhD research projects and invited university students to attend an international symposium on urban transformation in Shanghai. Holcim Awards 2005/06 retrospective book launched
Zurich / Switzerland, January 11, 2007. – In the first Holcim Awards competition for sustainable construction projects, over 3000 entries were submitted from 120 countries and USD 2.1 million in prize money was awarded to 46 projects. The newly-published book Sustainable construction – Holcim Awards 2005/2006 provides an overview of the competition and the winning projects in a contemporary “snapshot” of the global state of sustainable construction.
