Ten projects that demonstrate the latest in eco-friendly and sustainable approaches from the building and construction industry were announced winners of the second European Holcim Awards for Sustainable Construction at a ceremony in Madrid.

Launch of book based on Holcim Forum 2007
Venice, Italy – September 14, 2008: A collection of essays from eminent thinkers on the topic of sustainability and urban transformation was first presented at the 11th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale. The publication was inspired by the international Holcim Forum 2007 held in Shanghai on the topic of Urban_Trans_Formation.

Holcim Foundation joins forces with the International Union of Architects
July 9, 2008 - The International Union of Architects (UIA) and the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction seek to cooperate to inspire better sustainability performance in planning, architecture and building.

The Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction promotes sustainable responses to the technological, environmental, socioeconomic and cultural issues affecting building and construction.

Activities including Holcim Awards competitions, Holcim Forum symposiums, seed funding for building initiatives and grants for research projects encourage innovative approaches to sustainable construction.

The objective of the Holcim Foundation is the non-commercial promotion and development of sustainable construction at national, regional and global levels.
