Sarah Graham is a Founding Partner of agps architecture in Los Angeles and Zurich.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University in Art History and Design, a Masters of Architecture from Harvard Graduate School of Design, and also attended the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich).

Sarah Graham has had extensive teaching experience. She has been a design critic at various schools of architecture, was Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Southern California at Los Angeles (UCLA), and a Visiting Professor at the Rhode Island School of Design, the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, the University of California, Berkeley, and Nanjing University.

She began her professional career as an architect in Boston in 1982. She co-founded Angélil/Graham Architecture, adding two additional partners to form Angélil/Graham/Pfenninger/Scholl (agps architecture) in 1990.

Her completed work includes an experimental house in the Hollywood Hills, lunch shelters for the Los Angeles Unified School District, the Esslingen Town Center with light-rail station in Zurich, the Children’s Museum of Los Angeles, a horse ranch in Topanga Canyon, and the Portland Aerial Tram in Portland, Oregon.

Sarah Graham has been the recipient of several honors and awards, including the 2008 Design Award “Honor Award for Architecture” from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for the Portland Aerial Tram project, the “Next LA Award” for the Children’s Museum of Los Angeles from the AIA in 2002, and the “Next LA Award” for Herzo Base with Adidas “World of Sports” 2000 in Germany.

Her work has been published in many international journals, including Domus, Architectural Review, Global Architecture, Architectural Record, archithese, Detail, Summa+, T+A, and Houses and Architecture.

Sarah Graham was a member of the Holcim Awards jury for region Latin America in 2008.

Sustainable Construction - the Portland Aerial Tram is winner of the 2008 AIA “Honor Award for Architecture”
Designed by Sarah Graham and Marc Angélil as a minimal intervention with light and open structures that dematerialize transportation infrastructure, the Portland Aerial Tram is winner of the 2008 AIA “Honor Award for Architecture”. The building elements include an upper station, an intermediate support tower, a lower station, and two tram cars, which operate in a jig-back configuration.
