Mohsen Mostafavi

Mohsen Mostafavi is Dean of the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

He has previously held the positions of Gale and Ira Drukier Dean of the College of Architecture, Art and Planning, Cornell University and the Arthur L and Isabel B Wiesenberger Professor in Architecture, and Chairman of the Architectural Association (AA) School of Architecture in London.

He has served on the design committee of the London Development Agency (LDA) with Lords Rogers and Foster, among others, and is currently involved as a consultant on a number of architectural and urban projects of international significance. He is a member of the steering committee of the Aga Khan Awards for Architecture.

Mohsen Mostafavi studied architecture at the AA, and undertook research on counter-reformation urban history at the universities of Essex and Cambridge.

Previously, he was Director of the Master of Architecture I Program at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design and has also taught at the University of Pennsylvania, Cambridge University and the Frankfurt Academy of Fine Arts.

His research and design projects have been published in many journals, including The Architectural Review, AAFiles, Arquitectura, Bauwelt, Casabella, Centre and Daidalos. He is co-author of Architecture and Continuity and Delayed Space with Homa Fardjadi, and On Weathering: The Life of Buildings in Time with David Leatherbarrow.

His recent publications include: Approximations, Surface Architecture, Logique Visuelle, Landscape Urbanism: A Manual for the Machinic Landscape and Structure as Space.
