Mohsen Mostafavi is Dean of the Graduate School of Design (GSD) at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass. USA.
He is also Alexander and Victoria Professor of Design at the GSD. He previously held the positions of Gale and Ira Drukier Dean of the College of Architecture, Art and Planning at Cornell University where he was also the Arthur L. and Isabel B. Wiesenberger Professor in Architecture, and Chairman of the Architectural Association School of Architecture (AA) in London.
He is a member of the trustees of the Van Alen Institute, and serves on the steering committee of the Aga Khan Awards for Architecture. Previously he served on the design committee of the London Development Agency (LDA) with Richard Rogers and Norman Foster, and is currently involved as a consultant on a number of architectural and urban projects of international significance.
Mohsen Mostafavi studied architecture at the AA, and undertook research on counter-reformation urban history at the University of Essex and the University of Cambridge.
Previously, he was Director of the Master of Architecture I Program at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design and has also taught at the University of Pennsylvania, Cambridge University and the Frankfurt Academy of Fine Arts.
His recent publications include: Landscape Urbanism: A Manual for the Machinic Landscape; Structure as Space, and most recently Ecological Urbanism. His research and design projects have been published in many journals, including The Architectural Review, AAFiles, Arquitectura, Bauwelt, Casabella, Centre and Daidalos.
Mohsen Mostafavi was the Head of the Holcim Awards jury for Europe in 2005, a Member of the Global jury in 2006, and a Member of the jury for North America in 2008.
