The official hand-over of the global Holcim Awards finalist certificate took place Tuesday, June 23, 2009 on the banks of the East River in New York at the Solar One building. This location will also be the future home for Solar 2’s Green Energy, Arts & Education Center. The center is situated at the head of a meandering public walkway with a canopy of trees and plants that are all cared for by local volunteers. The Solar One staff is already entrenched in the community with outdoor stage shows and a very active community volunteer program.

Chris Collins accepted the Awards certificate on behalf of the entire Solar 2 team. This certificate recognized their efforts for The Green Energy, Arts & Education Center that will begin construction in 2010 and plan to open in the spring of 2011. David Loomes, VP of Commercial Services and Paul O’Connor, Manager of Marketing Communications (Holcim US) made the official presentation to Chris Collins and his team on behalf of the Holcim Foundation.
