Holger Wallbaum
holds the Chair in Sustainable Construction, sponsored by Holcim at the Swiss
Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich), Switzerland. He was appointed to
this position, as Assistant Professor in Sustainable Construction, in August
2006.
His work focuses on sustainable enterprises; water- and
building-related material flows; energy and resource efficiency; life cycle
analysis; and new technologies.
Wallbaum studied safety engineering and
environmental management at the University of Wuppertal, Germany; safety
engineering and risk management at the University of Mulhouse, France; and
completed a PhD in architecture at the University of Hannover, Germany in
2002.
He gained professional experience in the fields of sustainability
indicator systems and management tools for decision support and
communication.
Wallbaum is a member of diverse international boards,
official delegate at the World Summit 2002 in Johannesburg, South Africa and a
partner of the CSR Values Alliance.
He has been an advisor at the
Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy since 1995; a co-founder
and managing partner of triple innova, Germany, specializing in sustainable
business models, since 2002. He became executive manager of mipsHAUS-Institute
for Sustainable Construction, Germany in 2004.
