The Brumidi Corridors are currently undergoing restoration work as part of a 7-year project that has commissioned a local artist.

Tour guides highlighted many interesting details within the Capitol Dome.

The Apotheosis of Washington depicts George Washington becoming a god (apotheosis). The fresco was painted by Italian artist Constantino Brumidi in 1865 and is visible through the oculus of the dome in the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol Building.

Following the tour, guests departed the U.S. Capitol for lunch on the terrace of the Hay Adams Hotel.
