Short-sighted economic goals have harmed some of the Mediterranean’s most spectacular coastline. Waterfront reclamation and remediation is part of a government program that will see the rehabilitation of 170,000 hectares of foreshores. Threats to environmental and human health will be eliminated, and employment created through cultural and tourism infrastructure.
