Bruce Gibbons is the leader of Thornton Tomasetti’s US-West region, coordinating the operations of the firm’s five California offices. He joined Thornton Tomasetti in 2004 after 20 years with engineering firm Arup, and established the firm’s Los Angeles office. Since 2011 he is a member of the board of directors.

Bruce Gibbons is a licensed professional and structural engineer in California and a Chartered Structural Engineer in the United Kingdom. He holds a Bachelor of Civil & Structural Engineering from Sheffield University (1984) and a Masters in Concrete Structures from Imperial College London (1989).

He has over 30 years of experience in the design, specification and construction of a wide variety of complex and expressive structures in the USA and internationally. His expertise spans a wide range of market sectors, including airports, commercial buildings, educational facilities, museums, performing arts centers, sports facilities and transit centers.

Bruce Gibbons was a member of the Global Holcim Awards jury in 2021.
