Gail Brager teaches in the areas of energy and environmental management, sustainable design for hot climates, mechanical systems and architectural space-making. Her current areas of research activity include comfort and adaptation in naturally-ventilated buildings, and the design and performance of alternative offices.

She studied science at the University of California, Santa Barbara and mechanical engineering at the University of California, Berkeley before obtaining a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University of California, Berkeley.

Gail Brager is a member of the Faculty, Energy and Resources Group, UC Berkeley and is an ASHRAE Fellow and past-President of the Golden Gate ASHRAE Chapter. She is also Chair of the US Green Building Council Research Committee.

She has published extensively on topics including thermal comfort, adaptation in naturally ventilated and air-conditioned buildings, task conditioning, and indoor air quality.

Gail Brager was the recipient of the Presidential Young Investigator Award from the National Science Foundation, Progressive Architecture Research Award, AIA Education Honors Honorable Mention, Places/EDRA award for Place-based research, and several awards from ASHRAE technical papers, general research in thermal comfort, and a project on thermal adaptation.
