    Global Holcim Awards Bronze 2009 handover in Beijing, China for "Sustainable planning for a rural community", Beijing, China: Wowo Ding, Dean of the School of Architecture at Nanjing University, China and member of the jury for Asia Pacific in 2008 introduced the winning project. “The dominating highlight of this project is the innovative and unique approach to the overall land use planning for the development of the rural community that is based on a sound field survey and the establishment and scientific analysis of a comprehensive database.”

Wowo Ding is Dean of the School of Architecture at Nanjing University, China.

She studied architecture at Nanjing Institute of Technology, China and completed her doctorate at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) in 2001.

Wowo Ding was professor of architecture at Southeast University in Nanjing, China from 1986 to 2000. In 1994-96, she was a visiting assistant professor in the School of Architecture at the ETH Zurich. She then became professor of architecture at Nanjing University in 1996, becoming Vice Dean in 2000 and Dean in 2006.

She was awarded the “outstanding young teachers” prize by Southeast University and Nanjing University, first prize for her design project "Eastern and Western Market in Confucius Temple," and an outstanding designation for her Jiangsu Provincial urban and rural planning design work.

Her design in the project “Eastern and Western Market in Confucius Temple” won the first prize. She has also won the Nanjing outstanding design for the individual prize and the Jiangsu Provincial urban and rural planning and design award.

Wowo Ding was a member of the Holcim Awards jury for region Asia Pacific in 2008 and Head of the Holcim Awards jury for region Asia Pacific in 2011.
