“Fully adequate for the agenda of regional sustainability” – Holcim Awards Jury

Proposed law integrated residential complex that takes into consideration a comprehensive set of measures – i.e., those concerning water, wastes, wind, energy, CO2 emission – to improve the environmental performance of the project, measures that are fully adequate for the agenda of regional sustainability.

Among such considerations is a plan to reduce materials wastage - a very important aspect in Brazil, since the rate of waste is usually very high, but it is often ignored in green building projects worldwide.

Also worthy of merit are the proposals to reuse wastewater after ozone disinfection, an environmental education program for workers and tenants, provisions for waste management, as well as donation of recyclable material to NGO’s. The wisdom and responsible stance of the entrepreneurs is commended for demonstrating the feasibility of adopting sustainable concepts in residential buildings to be sold directly to consumers in the Latin-American market.

The contributions made on behalf these considerations promises to greatly improve the quality of life for the community. Furthermore, the project exercises restraint with respect to the surrounding environment, minimalizing the ecological footprint while maximizing usable quality space for the inhabitants.
