Project entry 2014 Latin America – Plaza Mediateca: Library and media center, San José, Costa Rica
The Media Library Rincón Grande aims to promote the process of learning, knowledge, and social interaction (as a means to reduce inequality) of the community, using architecture as a tool to build social space, strengthen community identity and cohesion.
The media library for the Rincon Grande neighborhood is designed as a modular raised platform resting on steel pillars covered by a ventilated roof. The orientation takes advantage of natural light and movable façade panels to regulate the internal breeze circulation, avoiding mechanical air conditioning.
