    Project entry 2014 Europe – Net Point: Civic center virtual network, Sortavala, Russia

    Combination: the main difficulty in sustainable building design is combining the maximum from all factors in one space. The project tries to do that by dividing Point public center into two parts. First part is heated and contains public places like forum with folding screen, café and game zone. Second one is unheated and contains ecological systems of equipment. Also eco-parts were added such as heat-accumulating wall to public part and an observation area to equipment part for ecological education.

This network of “real virtuality” focuses on small towns across Russia. Aiming to put them on the map using multipurpose buildings equipped with modern communi- cations technology, providing the possibility of video-conferences, spreading music from a concert hall into the streets, holding meetings or lectures, etc.
