Alice Charles

Prior to joining Arup, she led the Cities, Infrastructure & Urban Services work at the World Economic Forum, where she spearheaded initiatives on sustainable and inclusive urbanisation, financing the green transition, and city resilience in the face of climate change.
Her career spans senior positions in both the public and private sectors, with expertise in the areas of city and urban planning, real estate, urban development & regeneration, construction, infrastructure, transport, energy, and climate change globally. She has advised governments, city leaders, and businesses worldwide on strategies to achieve net-zero, improve quality of life, and strengthen urban resilience.
Alice is widely recognised as a thought leader on sustainable cities, frequently speaking at global forums and contributing to influential reports and frameworks on the future of urban development.
She also serves as a member of the UN-Habitat Executive Director’s Stakeholder Advisory Group Enterprise; Co-Chair of the Earthshot Prize Cities Working Group; member of the SDSN Urban SDG Finance Commission (and Chair of its Private Sector Taskforce); board member of the UN Global Compact Ireland Chapter; member of the World Economic Forum Davos Baukultur Alliance; and member of the Steering Board of Construct Innovate.
