Combined with exceptional knowledge of structural design, he brings to any project his extensive experience as a practitioner, having been a project manager with the firm for more than 50 years.

Franz Knoll oversaw the design of the Louvre Pyramid in Paris, in addition to being called upon for consultation to solve the structural problems posed by exceptional structures around the world. He has served on numerous technical committees, both nationally and internationally, and is the author of more than thirty publications on structural safety and, on behalf of the National Research Council of Canada, three manuals for the seismic rehabilitation of existing buildings.

Since its foundation in 1969, NCK’s principal field of activity consists in the performance of consulting structural engineering services for architects and other clients in the building industry. Most of these services are rendered in connection with the construction of large commercial and institutional projects as well as of special structures unusual in their complexity or scope.

Franz Knoll studied at the ETH Zurich where he obtained his PhD in Applied Sciences. With the firm since 1967, Franz Knoll has been one of his partners since 1978. He develops computer programs for the calculation of structural design and acts as a project manager and chief designer for high-rise buildings, special projects and the restoration, renovation and rehabilitation of existing buildings.
