Heba Allah Essam E Khalil is Professor of Sustainable Urbanism in the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, Egypt.

Heba Allah Essam E Khalil teaches and conducts research in community development, informal areas, and integrated urban systems.
She has built a number of international research partnerships focusing on urban metabolism and improving urban micro-climate in highly dense cities through meta-flow analysis, simulation and participatory action research. She has also worked as an architect, urban planner and housing expert with multi-scale agencies, authorities and clients both local and international.
She has worked for multiple public agencies and international organizations on urban development, strategic plans and housing including: World Bank, Washington DC, USA; UN-Habitat, Cairo, Egypt and local authorities in Cairo.
Heba Allah Essam E Khalil was previously Adjunct Professor in Architectural Design, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA.
She holds a PhD in Architectural Engineering from Cairo University (2003).
Her publications include Energy Efficiency in the Urban Environment (CRC Press, 2015), and research published in journals including: Engineering Research Journal, International Journal of Sustainable Development & Planning.
