His research focuses on the use of quantitative techniques and sustainability principles to address problems related to construction materials, energy, and waste management – and is published in international journals including Resources, Conservation & Recycling; Waste Management & Research; International Journal of Sustainable Society; International Journal of Sustainable Energy; and Sustainable Development.

He obtained a Bachelor of Civil & Environmental Engineering (with Distinction) from AUB (1999), a Master of Science in Transportation Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin (2001), and a PhD in Construction Engineering & Project Management from the University of Texas at Austin (2005).

Issam Srour served as an associate project analyst with Independent Project Analysis, where he specialized in the evaluation of multi-billion dollar construction projects before joining AUB as a faculty member in 2008.

He has served as referee for several international journals and chair for several international conferences. He represents AUB on a technical committee in charge of the Innovate for Lebanon National Competition. The committee is designing and implementing a competition among senior engineering students from all major universities in Lebanon on themes related to innovation and sustainability.
