Holcim Foundation Awards Winners Highlight Best Practice in Sustainable Design
These projects set new benchmarks in sustainable design and construction — from Bhutan to Medellín — highlighting how architecture and engineering can shape thriving communities, regenerate natural systems, and redefine industry standards for sustainability.
“This year’s 20 winners are inspiring because the solutions they offer are replicable and implementable — they set a credible path forward for industry.” — Laura Viscovich, Executive Director, Holcim Foundation
The 2025 Awards recognise excellence across all scales and contexts — from an intimate, semi-permanent school in a Kenyan forest to large- and mega-scale urban regeneration projects in cities serving millions of people such as Madrid, Dhaka, and Shenzhen.
Emerging trends across this year’s winners include:
- Resilient infrastructure working with and for nature
- Design as a healing tool
- Low-carbon, circular approaches
