Newsletter — February 2026
Last updated: February 06, 2025 Zurich, Switzerland
Bringing together leading architects, engineers, urban planners, climate scientists, and policymakers, the Forum created a rare space for open exchange on how cities and communities can respond to escalating flood risk.
Five Critical Questions for a Flood-Resilient Future | Publication
The Holcim Foundation’s new publication distills key insights from the Forum’s discussions, bringing together expert perspectives on how cities and communities can adapt to escalating flood risk. Structured around five critical questions, the Digest explores the technical, social, and institutional dimensions of flood resilience — from infrastructure and nature-based solutions to governance, equity, and long-term responsibility.
Designed as a concise reference for practitioners and decision-makers, the publication extends the impact of the Forum beyond the event itself, supporting informed practice and encouraging continued examination of how we live with water.
Leading Voices from the Forum | Talks
Recordings from the Holcim Foundation Forum 2025 are now available to watch online, including the opening keynote and presentations from the three workshop streams — Retreat, Resist, and Respond.
The sessions span scientific analysis of accelerating flood risk, long-term planning horizons, and practical case studies on managed retreat, nature-based solutions, infrastructure adaptation, and emerging tools such as AI for flood planning. Together, they offer insight into how flood resilience is being approached across different contexts and timeframes.
