A special issue of L’Architecture d’Aujourd’hui (AA) brings together almost 50 experts affiliated with the LafargeHolcim Awards. The professional magazine renowned for its critical look at architecture and urbanism highlights why it is worthwhile participating in architectural competitions. They boost projects, careers, and networking opportunities.

The issue is presented in two language versions: English-French and English-Spanish. It features editorials by Emmanuelle Borne, editor-in-chief of AA, Jean-Philippe Hugron, editor of Le Courrier de l'Architecte, and Edwin Heathcote, architecture and design critic for the Financial Times.

The richly-illustrated magazine includes interviews with LafargeHolcim Awards winners whose projects have excelled in meeting the competition’s criteria that includes innovation, transferability, ethics, social inclusion and best use of resources and raw materials. The public recognition, professional acceleration and network building frame the multiple benefits to the prize winners. And yet the competition also benefits the building and construction industry as a whole, by boosting sustainable designs that might be radical, new, difficult, original or untried.

AA has been instrumental in promoting the discourse and image of modern architecture since it was founded in 1930 and is one of the leading magazines of contemporary architecture.
