The Holcim Foundation held its first major public event this September: the Holcim Forum for Sustainable Construction, hosted with ETH Zurich under the theme of basic human needs.
Inside:
- 120 experts from 35 countries gathered for two days, with keynote speeches from OECD's Simon Upton and Grameen Bank founder Muhammad Yunus
- Architects Winy Maas and Eduardo Souto de Moura shared contrasting views on what sustainability means for design
- 25 students from five partner universities presented posters on sustainable construction, with the top prize going to an ETH Zurich team working on a war-damaged university building in Afghanistan
