Holcim and Lafarge have joined forces to become the new global leader in the building materials industry: LafargeHolcim Ltd. The activities of the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction – known since 2003 for its international Awards competitions, academic Forums, online information hub and an array of publications – continue under the name LafargeHolcim Foundation.

Bernard Fontana, former CEO of Holcim, and Roland Walker, former Head of Communications of Holcim, stepped down from the Board at the closure of the merger. The LafargeHolcim Foundation creates awareness and promotes excellence in sustainable construction and is supported by partner universities on all continents. The 5th International Forum for Sustainable Construction dedicated to “Infrastructure Space” will take place April 7-9, 2016 in Detroit, USA.
The 5th cycle of regional and global Awards for Sustainable Construction will open for submissions in the second half of 2016. Concluding the most recent competition, the global Awards prizes 2015 will be handed over in Medellín, Colombia, on August 5 (Gold); in Ambepussa, Sri Lanka, on September 1 (Silver); and in New York City, USA, on September 24 (Bronze) in combination with the 1st Awards Lab for “Next Generation” winners from the five regional Awards competitions 2014.
