Christopher Lee leads the design of Serie across all offices.

He is Associate Professor in Practice of Urban Design at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design (GSD) in Cambridge, MA, USA (2013-).

He was previously a Design Critic at the Harvard GSD (2011-12), Director of the Architectural Association (AA) Projective Cities MPhil Programme (2010-12) and AA Diploma & Intermediate Unit Master (2002-09).

He was appointed as a London Mayor’s Design Advocate to work on the Good Growth by Design program addressing key challenges facing London's built environment (2017-).

Christopher Lee graduated with the AA Diploma (Honors), received the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) President’s Medal Commendation Award, and his Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture and Urbanism from the Berlage Institute and Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), the Netherlands.

Serie was founded in 2008. Christopher Lee is the recipient of the prestigious BD Young Architect of the Year Award; was named as one of ten visionary architects for the new decade by the Leading European Architects Forum; and was selected by ICON as one of 20 Essential Young Architects in the world (2008).

He has published articles in research in journals including Journal of Architecture, Architectural Design, and Architecture Today. He has also contributed to publications including Shaping Cities (Hatje Cantz Verlag, 2016); Common Frameworks: Rethinking the Developmental City in China (Harvard GSD, 2015); and Typological Urbanism: Projective Cities, Architectural Design (Wiley, 2011), and been a member of the editorial boards of Journal of Architecture Research & Development, Journal of Contemporary Urban Affairs and Journal of City, Culture & Architecture.

The practice is known for its theoretical position which emphasizes the study of building typologies and their evolution. Serie advocates careful study of historical building precedents as a basis for speculating on new solutions. With a close relationship to the AA School of Architecture and Harvard GSD, Serie has re-opened interest in this field as one of the key areas of architectural discourse.

Christopher Lee was a member of the Holcim Awards jury for region Asia Pacific in 2020.
