Nirmal Kishnani, Assistant Professor of Architecture at the National University of Singapore, will present the research behind his latest book, “Ecopuncture”. His research proposes and demonstrates the possibilities inherent in a systemic approach to our buildings and cities, integrating the needs of humanity and nature into tapestries of innovative design. “Ecopuncture is acupuncture for the built environment. Every designed object affects the wider condition within which it is nested,” he said.

For the project authors, the Awards competition has boosted the project, their careers, and opportunities for networking. The “Microlibrary in Indonesia” project was praised by the independent jury for “reinforcing literacy and defining community” and was also shortlisted for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2019.
