Rajeev Thakker is Principal Architect at a-RT based in Mumbai and was a Facilitator of the Mobile Workshop “Retrofitting brownfields” at the 4th Holcim Forum 2013 “Economy of Sustainable Construction” held in Mumbai, India.

He is a practicing architect, artist and urban curator living and working in Mumbai. He created a-RT art.architecure.design in 2003, which takes a keen interest in engaging design through cartographic, architectural and other creative processes.

Since 2000, he has been actively teaching design and theory at KRVIA, NMIMS BSSA, Raffles Institute and ISDI/Parsons Mumbai and guest critic and lecturer at Parsons School of Design, Rensallaer Polytecnic Institute in Rochester, New York, the ABAC School of Architecture in Bangkok, and Columbia Universities GSAPP in New York City.

He curated Columbia University GSAPP’s Studio X Mumbai (2011-17) project focused on exploring the future of our cities and most recently he has participated as an invited artist with his installation “HOME” as well as a series of urban design installations entitled “Happy Medium”.

He obtained a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University in 1994 and a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design (MSAAD) from Columbia University GSAPP in 1998. He has worked for firms such as SOM and the Arnell Group in New York City (1994-99).
