Staying focused on the “target issues” for sustainable construction will help your project to stand out in the LafargeHolcim Awards. Make sure you understand how your project most contributes according to the target issues when responding to the “statements on sustainability” in the online entry form.

The independent regional juries use the five “target issues” to evaluate submissions in the competition. The criteria make it possible to compare diverse projects from architecture, engineering, urban planning, materials and construction technology, and related fields.

Together with our associated universities, the LafargeHolcim Foundation developed the five “target issues”, that focus on long-term development of the built environment via a mutually-reinforcing interplay of responsible economic, ecological, social, and aesthetic objectives:

• Innovation and transferability – Progress
• Ethical standards and social inclusion – People
• Resource and environmental performance – Planet
• Economic viability and compatibility – Prosperity
• Contextual and aesthetic impact – Place

In the online entry form, you need to provide three concise texts that explain the most important aspects of how your project contributes to sustainable construction. The statements on sustainability should focus on the key strengths of your project and refer to the “target issues” for sustainable construction. The statements may refer to the same or different “target issues”. Each statement may refer to single or multiple “target issues”. It is recommended that the information submitted through the images and their captions should complement the main themes of the sustainability concept.
