Luigi Centola is Founder and Principal of Centola & Associati, an integrated design office that deals with a wide range of large scale projects. Based in Salerno and Rome, the firm uses a systemic approach based on sustainability that merges strategic masterplanning, landscape and architecture in an innovative way.
Born in 1968, he graduated cum laude in architecture from the University of Naples in 1993. In 1996 he obtained a Graduate Design Diploma from the Architectural Association (AA), London.
In 1997 Luigi Centola was awarded the Fulbright Fellowship in architecture and visual arts at the American Academy in Rome. He is cultural ambassador in the United States for Rotary International.
Centola & Associati is the winner of many national and international competitions including the Etna North tourism village, the Castelmola museum of art & architecture, the Mattatoio cultural center in Rome, and the European Investment Bank landscape in Luxembourg.
In 2005 Centola & Associati won the Holcim Award Gold for Europe and in 2006 the Global Holcim Award Silver for the masterplan "Waterpower" for the renewal of the Amalfi & Scala Mulini valley in the Amalfi Coast UNESCO site.
Luigi Centola is editor of the interactive portal newitalianblood.com, consultant for the National Council of Italian Architects and visiting professor of design at the University of Rome and the University of Ferrara, Italy.
