Martin Felsen is Principal of UrbanLab, a collaborative office practicing architecture and urbanism.
UrbanLab has been the recipient of numerous honors including winning the City of the Future competition. UrbanLab’s projects include a study for the implementation of fifty “Eco-Boulevards” (linear parks) throughout Chicago and a comprehensive masterplan for Aurora, the second largest city in Illinois. UrbanLab is also a research laboratory actively engaged in examining the City and the Chicago megalopolis. The research projects are an effort to document a broad informational context for those working on and/or thinking about the design and planning of Chicago.
Martin Felsen has a degree of the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP) at Columbia University and is Associate Studio Professor at the College of Architecture, Illinois Institute of Technology.
He and his partner Sarah Dunn were named Directors of Archeworks, Chicago’s alternative design school.
