Prem C. Jain is Chairman Emeritus of AECOM India, an engineering consulting company that provides solutions for design, energy efficiency, fire safety, and indoor air quality in buildings.
Established as “Spectral Services Consultants”, the firm has been responsible for more than 2,000 commercial, hospitality, healthcare, IT, and aviation projects including the design of services for 44 LEED Platinum-rated green buildings.
His ongoing research interests and contributions are focused on green buildings, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) system design for large buildings, indoor air quality, energy conservation, water conservation, and integrated building management systems.
Prem C. Jain obtained a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and also a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (1967) at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA.
He is a visiting professor at the Department of Architecture, Delhi School of Planning & Architecture, and is also Chairman of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). The IGBC is actively involved in promoting the “green building” concept in India, and is comprised of representatives from all construction industry stakeholders including corporate, government and nodal agencies, architects, product manufacturers, and academia.
He is the Founder and President Emeritus of the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating & Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE), which now has more than 50 chapters and over 10,000 members across India.
Prem C. Jain was the first practicing engineer in India to be nominated as a Fellow of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE USA, 1995). He received the Louise & Bill Holladay “Distinguished Fellow”, the highest award from ASHRAE.
