Sundaresan Raghupathy is Founder and Senior Executive Director of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).

Sundaresan Raghupathy is Founder and Senior Executive Director of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).

He is Executive Director of the Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre (GBC), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The IGBC is part of the CII-Sohrabji Godrej GBC and is actively involved in promoting the green building concept in India.

The CII-Sohrabji Godrej GBC in Hyderabad is LEED Platinum-rated. Within the organization, Sundaresan Raghupathy leads the conceptualization and development of the “Greenco Rating System”, the latest initiative of CII towards environment and sustainability.

He holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from Annamalai University, India.

He was named “National Expert on Energy Conservation” in 1992 for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) / Government of India Energy Audit Project, and has performed more than 500 industrial energy audits and 150 training programs on energy management in the industrial and building sector.

Sundaresan Raghupathy is also in charge of the CII-Triveni Water Institute in Jaipur, India where he coordinates the activities of the institute with focus on industry, municipality and agriculture. He leads a team of engineers to facilitate water conservation efforts in Indian industry, as well as green building, energy efficiency and water management practices at the national level.
